Pre-requisite: Beginners Parts 1 and 2 or basic computing experience


This session will cover the basics of using an email system to compose, send and receive emails.

We’ll cover the following key topics:

  • General overview
  • Explaining the terms webmail and desktop or PC mail, and the key differences
  • Brief review of the different programs available to manage email
  • Organising emails and the use of folders
  • Composing, sending, receiving, filing emails
  • Managing email accounts(s)
  • Email security – dealing with junk (spam) email and other threats
  • If time permits and depending on interest / relevance to you:
    • Managing multiple email addresses
    • Using message rules
    • Personalising email, e.g. stationery, signature
